Sugarfree Chocolates Product Information.

Sugarfree chocolates are sweetened with maltitol and contain only 1/3 of fat compaired to regular chocolates.

These chocolates are produced based on the raw materials of Barry-Callebaut Belgium, in the same way as regular chocolates, except the sugar has been replaced by maltitol.


The taste of the sugar free Belgian chocolates is also comparable to the taste of regular Belgian chocolates.


Maltitol is a sugar alcohol, which is the result of the hydrogenation of maltose (which is present in malt).


Maltitol is an ideal replacement for sugar in chocolate, since its effect on processing performance is similar to chocolate made with sugar.


Further advantages are its suitability for diabetics; lower energy content and the fact that claims of “sugarfree” or “no added sugar” are allowed.


The tolerance level to maltitol differs from person to person.

The EC Scientific Committee on Food agreed that most people can consume amounts up to 100 gr / 3.5 oz  of chocolates a day.

Emulsifier: Lecithin, vanillin
